Preparing for Pesach and Burning the Chometz

This year, the Jews of Kazahkstan burned their chometz in central bonfires.

Staff from the Chabad Lubavitch Jewish Centers prepared the bonfires. The Shalom Magazine and the women’s magazine La Tibya (lit. “For You”), which are sold throughout the country, gave the times for burning the chometz. On that specific morning, Jews arrived at the Chabad centers closest to them with chometz to burn and put it on the bonfire.

Those who did not come to the communal Sedarim in their cities were able to make their own at home thanks to the brochures that detailed all of the laws and customs of Pesach. The great interest that the Jews of Kazakhstan showed in the observance of these mitzvos was reflected by the number of telephone calls with various questions and requests on the subject that were received at its head office. Thousands of Jews celebrated Pesach this year throughout Kazakhstan and did all of the relevant preparations in the best way that they could. The staff of the Chabad Center received many positive reactions afterwards to the help they gave to make Pesach an unforgettable experience.
