Throughout the year, the community will be able to benefit from the service provided by the shop, including kosher meat, Jewish books, and other items of Judaica. Until now, the shop was located inside a temporary building that was too narrow, but the Pesach preparations were the final incentive to speed up the construction of better premises.
“Last year, the shop was already functioning in its new location, but this was also temporary, having just a roof and temporary walls,” Rabbi Cohen explained. “This year, we realized that we needed to do whatever we could so that the community would be able to enjoy not only the products themselves but better access to them, cutting down the long lines, especially on the days preceding Pesach and other festivals. For this purpose, we also put up an additional cash register and improved its operating program to speed up the process.”
This year, over 500 tons of kosher meat was prepared, but it was hardly enough for the needs of the community, and just a few days before Pesach the shluchim prepared another ton to make sure that no one would run out of kosher meat.
