The editorial comment deals with the upcoming festival of Pesach, the birthday of the Jewish nation, and the accent that it puts upon educating our children. The magazine also includes an essay by the Rebbe on this aspect, entitled, “Children are a blessing,” about the future of the Jewish nation, how the Jewish women in Egypt understood the significance of the future of their people, and how we were liberated from Egypt in their merit.
The shlicha in Almaty, Leah Cohen, writes about six stages of preparing for Pesach, the prohibition of owning chametz on Pesach, and cleaning the home. Children from the Yiddish-speaking cheder in Beitar, Oholei Menachem, show examples of how a Seder is run. There is also an article about the life of Yocheved, mother of Moshe, and her inheritance to future generations. Anyone interested in Pesach food will enjoy an article on the kosher kitchen and how to make a Pesach cake, by shlicha Yonit Karnauch. A children’s story – the liberation of Moshke the Jew on Seder night – was written by young shluchos Mushky and Soreleh Cohen, and there is also an article about the Lubavitcher Rebbe in honor of Yud Aleph Nissan, the Rebbe’s birthday.
The magazine is edited by shlicha Bracha Torenheim of Ust-Kamenogorsk. It is published every month and thousands of copies are distributed throughout Kazakhstan and also to immigrants from Kazakhstan now living in Israel.
The magazine is printed with the kind assistance of Shlomo Geller.
