Rabbi Cohen spoke about the Lag B’Omer celebrations that have been held annually in Almaty over the past 15 years. He said that this year’s bonfire, a video produced by Rabbi Gliss was screened and it made many people want to visit Meron. At the farbrengen, many participants made many positive resolutions to increase in Torah study and observance.Rabbi Cohen added that it has also become customary to visit the gravesite of Rabbi Levi Yitzchok Schneerson, the Rebbe’s father, in Almaty on Lag B’Omer. He also spoke about opening a fifth Chabad shul in Kostanay. There are currently four Chabad centers in Kazakhstan, serving 40,000 Jews.
Rabbi Gliss, who has visited Kazakhstan in the past, concluded the interview by saying that the shluchim there do “holy and productive work.”
