Gimmel Tammuz on Radio Kol Chai

Kazakhstan′s Chief Rabbi Yeshayah Elazar Cohen was a special guest on a Gimmel Tammuz broadcast on Israel′s Radio Kol Chai.

The broadcast was about the Lubavitcher Rebbe and was in honor of Gimmel Tammuz, the Rebbe's thirteenth yahrzeit. Various shluchim from far-flung corners of the world were interviewed on the show. Afterwards, Rabbi Avraham Baruch Pevzner held a farbrengen (Chassidic gathering) on air, along with Rabbi Omer Yisrael Furmansky of Jerusalem, and Rabbi Moshe Dovid Cohen, director of the Relief Fund for the Jews of Kazakhstan in Israel. Rabbi Yisrael Gliss emceed the show. During the broadcast, Rabbi Yeshayah Cohen spoke about his decision to go on shlichus to Kazakhstan, and his early days in the country. He recalled how, in those days, there was hardly a minyan, and some of the strange customs that were then followed by local Jews. Since then, there has been a revolution in Kazakhstan, and Jewish life has been restored. Rabbi Cohen also related how, with the help of a blessing from the Rebbe, Chabad of Kazakhstan received a building three times the size of what they had originally been looking for for the use of a kosher mikveh.
