The eight-minute broadcast, which is both in English and Hebrew, begins with a short introduction on the life and times of Rabbi Levi Yitzchok Schneerson, father of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, who passed away while in exile in Kazakhstan,. Rabbi Levi Yitzchok’s gravesite is in Almaty.
Head shliach Rabbi Yeshayah Elazar Cohen talks about his decision to go on shlichus to Kazakhstan in 1994 and how he set up a Jewish center near Rabbi Levi Yitzchok’s gravesite.
The film shows a range of activities, including programs for the elderly, social welfare, the distribution of food products to the needy, hospital visits, a women’s club, a mikveh, putting up mezuzos, slaughtering chickens and meat, circumcisions, weddings, bar mitzvahs, and even funerals and the maintenance of the Jewish cemetery.
It should be noted that aside from Almaty, Chabad Houses also function in the capital, Astana and Pavlodar.
