Many local Jews attended the celebration, which was held at the Chabad Beis Rochel Jewish Center. Delicious refreshments were provided. Rabbi Leivi Cohen told everyone present about the significance of the day.
Ambassador Yisrael Mi Ami, who arrived in Kostenay as part of his work, was very pleased to attend the farbrengen, along with the provincial deputy governor. The two visitors were a pleasant surprise for the participants.
Rabbi Cohen also spoke about the direct connection between the liberation of the Rebbe Rayatz and the Jews of Kostenay. The Rebbe Rayatz devoted his life to make sure that the Jewish spark would stay alive among the Jews of the former Soviet Union. In the merit of his devotion, even after seventy years of Communism, the Jews of Kostenay are still able to gather with Jewish pride for such a special event.
