Ingredients:
- 1 kg of lamb ribs
- 4 cut onions
- 2 thinly sliced red peppers
- 2 carrots
- 2 whole onions
- Bay leaves
Dough:
- 1 kg of flour
- 2 eggs
- Some water
Preparation:
Cook the meat for about three and a half hours with 2 carrots, 2 onions, salt and bay leaves. Boil it on a high light and then leave it to simmer on a low flame.
In the meantime, prepare the dough. Knead the ingredients into thick, strong dough and then roll it out into thin filo dough on a bed of flour. Shape it into rolls and cut into small strips.
You can also leave it as thin filo dough and cut into squares or diamonds.
Put the cut onion and red pepper into a serving bowl, and then take some of the sauce from the cooking meat and pour it onto the vegetables.
Remove the cooked meat from the pan, boil the sauce again, and then put the strips of dough inside. Cook for about 10-15 minutes.
Remove the pieces of cooked dough and place in a serving bowl. Put the cut vegetables on top.
Put the cooked, sliced meat on top of the dough.
Serve hot.
About Life on Shlichus:
Years on shlichus – 13.
A brief description of the community: The community includes Ashkenazim and Sephardim from Iran. They are very warm to Yiddishkeit and want to learn and absorb more. The Sephardic community observes Jewish customs that were passed down from previous generations. There are also many Jews who suddenly discover their status and draw closer to their roots.
Ways of working: Activities for women, Torah lectures, home visits, visiting newly delivered mothers – Shifra and Puah, material help for the needy, such as sending hot meals to the home, distributing clothing, working with children – clubs and camps.
A monthly women’s magazine – Dalya Tibia – For You, which is sent to every Jewish home and is very popular.
Many visitors come to Almaty to see the location of Rabbi Levi Yitzchok’s gravesite, and they also come to our shul.
Message: Every small action is actually something very big, even if you do not always see the fruits. In fact, many times you don’t see, and this is what brings happiness to the Rebbe. If we stop to think about this, we would feel very inspired to carry on with what we are doing.
I would like to wish every shlicha, wherever she is, much success. And in the merit of the important things we all do on our shlichus, may we soon see the coming of Moshiach.
