Among the various Sukkos events organized by the Chabad shluchim in Almaty, there was a special program for the community’s senior citizens, who are members of the Golden Age Club. On one of the days of Chol Hamoed, there was a special sukkah party at the shul’s sukkah.
As the event began, the sky clouded over and it began to drizzle, and as the winds and rain grew stronger it became more difficult to sit inside the sukkah. So Rabbi Yeshayah Cohen started to say a prayer and he was accompanied by everyone in expressing a wish that the celebration could continue. His prayers were miraculously answered, and the weather suddenly changed. The sun came out and the clouds went away. Interestingly, it continued to rain heavily in the rest of the city.
During the event, musical entertainment was provided by Avrahami Cohen, who played the organ and sang Chassidic melodies. The Rabbis present spoke about the significance of Sukkos. Afterwards, the participants received some honey cake, as is customary between Rosh Hashanah and Hoshana Rabbah.
