Shluchim Rabbi Shlomo and Bracha Torenheim opened the kindergarten several days ago, which is wonderful news for the children in the city’s Jewish community, who will now receive a traditional Jewish education on a high academic level. The kindergarten places a special emphasis on the children’s intellectual, educational, and developmental needs.
Mr. Shlomo Geller has generously sponsored the kindergarten in the memory of his late father, Eliezer Geller, a Jew who was careful to observe the mitzvos even during the Holocaust, when he put on tefillin every day in the forests where he hid as a partisan. The kindergarten was opened on the anniversary of his passing, on 2nd Cheshvan in the Jewish calendar.
The kindergarten is the result of successful cooperation between various members of the community. Each person donated his time and energy to develop and decorate the premises. Many ideas were warmly received by the shluchim. Among those who helped were Alexander Levitanus, who provided much good advice, and Tanya Kartanoshkina and Anya Kartashova, who designed the decorations. The ladies of the Golden Age club sewed sheets and gave much good advice.
The kindergarten, which is supervised by the Torenheims, is providing its young pupils with a traditional Jewish education. The children will learn about the Jewish festivals, laws, and customs. Kindergarten teacher Natalya Yirmikova is working to advance the children’s growth and development in a very professional way. Other teachers have also joined the staff, providing lessons in music, drawing, art, dancing, Hebrew, and more.
The new kindergarten also provides hot meals and beds, and activities will be run during the vacations and on Sundays.
