The annual Passover market to help the Jewish communities of Alma Ata Kazakhstan and the neighboring cities, established new all time high records.
From the hand made Shmura Matzah for the Passover Seders, to Kosher wine and grape juice, as well as all Passover ingredients , utensils and cleaning agents, were distributed to thousands with subsidized coupons.
Rabbi Elchonon Cohen, the organizer of the Passover market, is inspired by the excitement, Jewish pride and Holiday awareness which the Passover market created in the community.
More then a half ton of hand made Shmura Matzah, 4000 bottles of Kosher wine and grape juice, twenty tons of Glatt Kosher for Passover meat, dishes, utensils cleaning agents and new kitchen equipment were all part of the long list of products at the special Passover market.
The successful Passover market required months of preparations and meticulous planning. Importing a large variety of products from far and near.
Rabbi Cohen summarizes the Passover market: " The success of such a sophisticated and large campaign is testimony to the resilience and commitment of the community to Jewish heritage and tradition, and has been perfected by the unity of community efforts, together with the knowledge and experience learned over many years".
When Rabbi Cohen is asked about the exhausting work which the Passover project requires, he answers with a smile: " when you see the joy and happiness on the faces of thousands of our brothers and sisters who are excited to meticulously celebrate the 3300 year commandments of the Passover holiday, you know the effort was all worth it"
