Teves Edition of Women’s Magazine Now Out

The women’s magazine La Tibya, produced by Nshei Chabad of Kazakhstan, has now published its Teves edition.

The eighth edition of the magazine, edited by shlicha Bracha Torenheim as part of her activities at the Chabad Ohel Eliezer Center in Ust-Kamenogorsk, is based on the theme of Shabbos as a woman’s mitzvah.

A summary of the Rebbe’s words about spreading the awareness of lighting Shabbos candles are written on the cover. The magazine also includes an article about keeping Shabbos, a detailed description on how to light Shabbos candles, separating challah, one of the three mitzvos of the Jewish woman, four stories about Shabbos, and a fascinating description of the amazing welfare projects of Chasdei Naomi. Other articles include one on our ancestor Rivka, for whom the Shabbos candles burned from one erev Shabbos to the next and for whom there was a blessing in her challah dough.

Readers will also enjoy an article by the Chief Rabbi of Kazakhstan Rabbi Yeshayah Elazar Cohen on the connection between lighting a candle and 10th Teves, the beginning of the destruction of the Temple. In it, he calls upon the Jewish women of Kazakhstan to light Shabbos candles.

On the front cover of the magazine is a local Jewish girl named Yekaterina. The back cover shows Samira from Almaty.
